Jesus brings his followers into the body of Christ, a group of people called apart form the world.

Following Jesus's example of spiritual development.

Jesus had a unique approach to saving the world. It began with himself, as a faithful follower of the Father's will. Through his sacrifice on the cross, Jesus paid the penalty for our sin and provides the only way for salvation - repentance and faith in Him alone. What good news! It's available to us all.

To help spread this good news, he spent three years with a small group of men, known as his disciples— followers dedicated to becoming more like Him. Three of whom were his closest friends: Peter, James, and John. In this time, he trained, taught, and equipped all 12 of them to change the world. He tasked this faithful band of brothers with developing his Church, which is not a building; rather the sum of all of his followers. In other words, Christ chose to change the world by focusing on deep inner-transformation of a few close relationships.

the.SALT takes the same approach to making disciples. It begins with a personal, intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. Then, the focus is on close one-on-one disciple-making relationships. This spreads into small groups of faithful followers and kingdom organizations. Ultimately, each individual's personality is vital role in the Church, or the body of Christ.

Values

Meet the founders.

Joshua & Shirlee Clark

We began our lives together over a decade ago, and in that time, we have had three beautiful children, earned several degrees, started ministries, traveled the world, and dedicated our lives to one mission – making disciples.

Joshua began his career with a decade-long stint in business, doing everything from cleaning toilets to founding organizations and everything in between. He then spent over 5 years teaching at colleges & universities, equipping the next generation of leaders. He’s a doctoral candidate, professor, consultant, and founded the.SALT in 2024. He’s been invited internationally to speak & preach, and is a published researcher & writer. Currently, he is writing a book on discipleship. Joshua integrates his experience and education into developing disciples who follow Jesus & lead others.

Shirlee was born with a heart for people and has walked alongside them through their deepest pains. She has been in the mental health field for the past decade, including working in the toughest shelters and providing in-home, intensive care. She is a soldier for the Lord and engages in battle every day, raising our three highly-spirited children, whom she birthed during her graduate studies. She's a nationally certified Mental Health therapist and actively practices in both Washington & Idaho. She helps people in all walks of life, including couples, individuals, and group therapy, but has a special part of her heart dedicated to helping children & troubled teens.
